The new mechanical Record 12x2 Speed derailleur: speed, dexterity, precision and effectiveness.
The Campy Tech Lab designers focused on functionality, performance and compatibility when redesigning the new front derailleur. The new Record™ mechanical 12x2 Speed derailleur reveals various technical innovations; starting with the leverage system, which is designed to speed up shifting. Less effort is required for shifting thanks to the split front link rod, which avoids contact with the travel limit screw, and the shape of the inner cage plate, designed to match the new 12 speed chain’s characteristics.
The micro-adjustments to the front derailleur position (which can be activated by the controls) make it possible to avoid any chain contact, even in cases of maximum crossing. The plate positioned on the aluminium outer cage prevents the chain from escaping when upshifting and increases speed in the downshift phase, as well as creating a quieter transmission.
As far as compatibility is concerned, the new Record™ 12x2 Speed front derailleur allows tyres up to 32mm thanks to the new upper connecting rod and the double fixing of the cablex.

Campagnolo's evolution is relentless, and the world of mechanical transmissions is about to change with the arrival of a new and sophisticated innovation: the 12-speed Record Disc Brake groupset.
The twelfth sprocket heralds a new era for mechanical groupsets, allowing cyclists to achieve levels of versatility that have never been reached before, matched with Campagnolo’s typical quality and reliability. The design of the new Record™ 12x2 Speed groupset originated from a blank canvas, redesigning all components to improve their performance, while maintaining the same overall dimensions to retain full compatibility with the frames and wheels on the market. The 12-speed chain, with a thinner design than the previous one, has a life span equal to or longer than the 11-speed model. The crankset has been completely redesigned, with the aim of being effective even with wider chain crossings; the rear derailleur has a rocker arm capable of supporting sprockets of up to 32 teeth. The front derailleur has been lightened to reduce overall dimensions, while maintaining its effectiveness on different frames and types of bicycles.
The hydraulic disc brake system is a further addition to all this, offering power and braking modulability without sacrificing ease of wheel maintenance and shifting, thanks to the introduction of a few technical measures.
Features & Benefits
Comfortable body
The controls enable a solid, safe grip when pedalling out of the saddle or gripping high on the handlebar.
Rapid shifting
Immediate shifting engagement enables activating the front derailleur with minimum effort and in any hand position on the handlebar.
Multiple action
An unplanned ascent, a sudden jerk: it takes barely a moment to find the right ratio owing to the multiple action of the controls.
Ergonomic
The shape of the body and the possibility to adjust the reach enable all cyclists to use these controls, regardless of the size of their hands or fingers.
Campagnolo brake callipers: powerful, modulable and reliable.
The flat-mount Campagnolo brake callipers ensure powerful, modular braking in any situation owing to pistons measuring 22 millimetres in diameter. Brake pad return guaranteed by the magnetic system ensures that there is no friction at the time of brake lever release. A special metal plate positioned between the pad and the calliper piston, cushions the vibrations during braking.
The different Campagnolo brake callipers were designed to be mounted together with the disc chosen by the rider and to always guarantee the highest level of performance. It is indeed possible to choose the rear brake calliper with a disc measuring either 140 mm or 160 mm in diameter and to use a specific 160 mm front calliper. Careful attention was given to making maintenance and assembly operations easy: the pads have wear indicators and replacing them is facilitated by the absence of physical return springs. Additionally, work was done on the insertion of the disc in the calliper to make changing the wheel easier and faster.
Standard Flat Mount
Fully compatible with flat-mount frames.
22 mm pistons in phenolic resin
Braking force and thermal isolation.
Magnetic piston-calliper connector
Pads return to position rapidly, guaranteeing an overall gap between the pad and disc of 0.4-0.6 mm and zero risk of accidental contact.
Interchangeable spare parts: pads, cylinder, screws, bolts (same for all callipers)
Fully compatible and optimised spare parts, making maintenance practical and reducing the number of components to keep on hand in the warehouse.
Wear indicator
It is very easy to see when the pads need to be replaced.
Rounded brake pads
These facilitate disc insertion and speed up wheel changing.
Anti-vibration plate
Optimal braking without vibrations.
Two fixing screws
Rapid installation and maintenance.
- New design, same dimensions
- Unchanged Q Factor (145.5)
- Unidirectional carbon fibre hand cranks, steel axle and aluminium chainrings
- Symmetrical inner chainring teeth
- Optimised design for every chainring combination
- Double wheel sizing standards
- Superficial treatment of the chainrings for a longer lifespan
The new Record™ 12x2 Speed crankset: a new hole-free design for the right hand crank that optimises aerodynamics.
The new carbon fibre Record™ 12x2 Speed crankset with unidirectional finishing guarantees continuity with the finishings of the entire groupset, whilst maintaining the Ultra-Torque bracket system on the steel axle to ensure perfect transmission of power. The new Record™ 12x2 Speed crankset can be installed on any type of frame, whether or not it is being used with disc brakes because it optimises the chain line on the frame with a rear hub flange measuring 130, 135 or 142 millimetres, without affecting the Q factor that remains constant at 145.5 millimetres.
The innovative design of the outer chainring ensures faster, quieter derailing owing to the contoured pin. The symmetrical design of the inner chainring teeth allows improved stability with chain crossovers.
The double wheel sizing standards (112 and 145 millimetres) enable reducing the weight through greater use of carbon fibre. There are eight fixing screws for increased structure stiffness. The varying number of pins for each of the three chainring combinations (34/50, 36/52, 39/53) facilitates upshifting due to the optimised free strokes associated with each combination. The special drains on the inside of the outer chainrings optimise performance when downshifting in dead spots.
The new Super Record™ 12 Speed sprocket
sets feature thinner sprockets, tighter spaces and space-saving dimensions that are the same as those of the 11 Speed sprockets, meeting everyone’s needs with just two (11:29); (11:32) cassettes. The addition of the twelfth sprocket allows a linear upshift or downshift by a single tooth, up to the seventh gear, allowing the cyclist to find the perfect ratio for any situation.
In addition, the closer sprockets ensure faster, quieter and more precise shifting thanks to the special tooth design and surface treatment which guarantees a longer life span. The 6 larger sprockets are also available in two single-piece steel triplets, to avoid energy loss. Mounting the cassettes is easy thanks to matching-thickness spacers

New Super Record™ 12 Speed chain: slim, robust, smooth and precise.
The chain, in all its apparent simplicity, plays a critical role in the cyclist's safety and in optimizing the entire transmission mechanism. The new Super Record™ 12 Speed chain also had to be redesigned from scratch to work with all the other new transmission components. Therefore, the first and most important objective was reducing its overall dimensions. Its width is now 5.15 millimetres, thanks to the new pins which are perfectly aligned with the links’ outer surfaces.
The second objective was safeguarding its performance. This was achieved thanks to the Ultra-link system that makes the chain safe and durable, and a special treatment that guarantees extreme smoothness and precision shifting.
Width 5.15 mm
Faster shifting and lighter weight
Extremely high, long-lasting performance
Pins aligned to the outer surface
Smoothness and precision
Unsurpassed wear resistance
The chain is lighter and thinner, but lasts just as long as the previous model.
Optimized design
Optimal working in harmony with the sprocket and chainring tooth designs.
Ultra-link system
Weight : 220 g ( 110 links)
High level smoothness and reduced losses.
